The Austrian Academy of Sciences has elected Pál Fodor – Honorary Director General of the Research Centre for the Humanities (BTK), scientific advisor to the BTK Institute of History, and Head of the Medieval Department – as an external corresponding member. The newly elected members were presented at an online ceremony held by the Austrian Academy of Sciences on May 28, 2021.
Since the beginning of his career, Pál Fodor has greatly contributed to the development and enhancement of relationships between various scientific institutions. The Austrian Academy of Sciences is the main depository for research outside the university and the most important scientific center in Austria. Founded in 1847, it now has over 760 members and 1,800 staff dedicated to innovative basic research and the transfer of interdisciplinary knowledge. The academy has 25 research institutes in the area of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, as well as extensive international relationships.
The Austrian Academy of Sciences has 31 newly elected members this year. Scientists from a wide range of disciplines in the humanities, social and cultural sciences, mathematics and natural sciences have been awarded membership for their outstanding research achievements.
