A gyűjtemény alapja a felismerés, hogy a tudományos művek kritikai fogadtatása, benne mindenekelőtt az ismertetések, recenziók és bírálatok természetes részét és tárgyát alkotják az irodalomtörténészi munkának, s elsődleges forrásai a tudomány- és kritikatörténetnek.
This volume contains a selection of critiques of books and other professional publications, published in Hungarian and international journals over the last three and a half decades; these have been written, edited, or co-edited with a foreword or accompanying essay by myself – alone or with others, including primarily my wife Éva Knapp.
The collection is based on the recognition that the critical reception of scientific works and, above all, their descriptions, reviews and critiques form a natural part and object of the literary historian’s work and are the primary sources of the history of science and criticism.
